When to archive?

There is no rule as to when you should start archiving or to at least set the foundation for archiving. But an 'Archiving needs analysis report' can tell you exactly when and how you should archive.

Based on best practices are indicators(below) that you should start archiving:

  • SAP was implemented 5 years ago
  • SAP Database size is now over 1.0 TB
  • SAP Performance is decrease
  • SAP Backups are getting close to or exceeding the end of the backup window

SAP systems are more mature, most of SAP customer's implemented SAP around the year 2000.  This makes most SAP systems at least 10 years old... It's time to archive!

Unfortunately almost every customer has  developed their own code (reports, interface, enhancements...)  without thinking ahead that someday the data will need to be archived. Even if Trimada recommends that you think about archiving from the start of any SAP project, we can help you convert your existing developments to put them archive aware.
